Project Overview

DASH Architects was engaged by the Barossa Council to design a state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation centre to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding community in Tanunda. The project commenced with a thorough and collaborative process involving extensive options analysis and value management workshops. This rigorous approach ensured that the resulting design was both functional and cost-effective, balancing budgetary constraints with the ambition to deliver a first-rate facility.

The final design saw the creative integration of sections from the existing buildings and facilities, blending them seamlessly into a much larger, consolidated centre. This not only maximised the use of existing resources but also minimised disruption and environmental impact, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and community value. The expanded facility now boasts a wide array of features, catering to swimmers, fitness enthusiasts, families, and community groups alike. Key elements include modern indoor and outdoor pools, a well-equipped gymnasium, multipurpose courts, updated changing rooms, and flexible spaces for group fitness and community activities.

Since opening, the Barossa Aquatic and Recreation Centre has experienced a dramatic increase in patronage, underscoring its success within the community. The centre has become a vibrant focal point for health, wellbeing, and social connection, offering an inclusive environment that encourages participation from people of all ages and abilities. Its popularity is a testament to the thoughtful planning and expert delivery by DASH Architects, whose work continues to enhance quality of life in the Barossa region.
