Project Overview

Edmund Wright House is a distinguished landmark on Adelaide’s premier boulevard, King William Street. Designed by renowned colonial architect Edmund Wright and completed in 1878 for the Bank of South Australia, the building is an exceptional example of Victorian-era Classical architecture with Renaissance influences. It holds strong historical significance, symbolising the early development of Adelaide’s financial precinct and the growth of banking institutions in the State.

Recognising its cultural and architectural importance, DASH Architects adopted a considered, research-led approach to its care, maintenance, and conservation. Our work commenced with a comprehensive Conservation Management Plan and Condition Audit, establishing the building’s heritage significance and maintenance priorities. Guided by these findings, our specialist heritage team documented and delivered façade conservation works informed by traditional materials knowledge, laboratory analysis, and decades of technical expertise.

The result is the meticulous conservation of one of South Australia’s most treasured heritage landmarks—ensuring its integrity, beauty, and legacy endure for generations to come.
