Project Overview
DASH Architects was engaged to design and deliver a comprehensive fit out for the Legacy Club of South Australia and Broken Hill within the state heritage listed Torrens Parade Ground building. Drawing on their extensive experience gained from numerous previous projects on this historically significant site, DASH Architects brought a deep understanding of both the building’s architectural complexity and its important heritage values to the undertaking.
The fit out was approached with a strong sensitivity to the building’s rich historical context. Every design choice was made to ensure that the unique heritage fabric of the Torrens Parade Ground was preserved and respected. At the same time, the project sought to introduce modern, adaptable spaces capable of meeting the evolving needs of Legacy South Australia. This included the integration of flexible layouts that could accommodate a variety of functions, from administrative work to community gatherings and commemorative events.
Materials and finishes were carefully selected to complement the original architectural features, such as existing masonry, timber detailing and period elements, while introducing contemporary touches that signal a refreshed purpose for the space. The new fit out not only provides Legacy South Australia with a practical and inviting environment, but also establishes a distinct identity within the broader heritage setting. By balancing the preservation of historic character with the demands of present-day use, the project demonstrates DASH Architects’ expertise in creating environments that honour the past while embracing the future.
