Glanville Hall Redevelopment

DASH Architects was commissioned by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to develop a comprehensive master plan for the State Heritage listed Glanville Hall site that serves as a hub for community-based activities. Following the initial master planning, DASH Architects oversaw the delivery of several project phases that brought the vision to life. Recognising the heritage significance of the site, the team undertook a sensitive approach to upgrades, carefully enhancing amenities and accessibility within the existing structure while maintaining its historical character.

 

Throughout the various stages, the project encompassed a broad range of works. General conservation efforts preserved and restored key heritage features, ensuring the building’s longevity and continued relevance. Select areas were adaptively reused, transforming previously underutilised spaces into flexible areas that could accommodate a diverse array of community events and functions. These interventions not only breathed new life into the historic fabric but also supported evolving community needs.

 

In addition, the project introduced new amenities and outdoor spaces, thoughtfully integrated to encourage greater public engagement and enjoyment of the site. Connections between indoor and outdoor areas were enhanced, creating seamless transitions and maximising the potential for both formal and informal gatherings. The holistic approach taken by DASH Architects ensured that the Glanville Hall site not only retained its heritage value but also became a more practical, inviting, and versatile asset for the community.

 

The excellence of this project was recognised with an Institute of Architects Heritage Award, underscoring DASH Architects’ expertise in balancing conservation, adaptive reuse, and contemporary community requirements within a significant heritage context.
